'Last Car' for Sale on Ebay


The 1996 Lincoln Town Car that allegedly transported the body of former NASCAR driver Dale Earnhardt Sr. is being sold on eBay for $1.5 million.
According to multiple reports, records indicate Raymer Funeral Services sold the hearse to Bill McKeithan, who then reportedly sold the car last month to an unidentified man for $8,800.

Earnhardt, a seven-time Cup champion, died on Feb. 18, 2001 in a last-lap crash at Daytona International Speedway. He was 49.
The eBay seller has set the starting bid at $1.5 million, and the auction will expire on Tuesday, March 15. The Kelly Blue Book value for a 1996 Lincoln Town Car with 115,000-plus miles is about $4,600, the Charlotte Observer reports.
A manager with Raymer Funeral Services, based in Huntersville, N.C., confirmed with Charlotte's WBTV-3 that Raymer handled all arrangements for Earnhardt's funeral, including use of the 1996 Lincoln Town Car. Also, the manager said the hearse transported Earnhardt's body to the mausoleum where he was interred.The eBay ad lists a short explanation of the auction: "On Feb. 21, 2001 this hearse took Mr. Earnhardt from a Huntersville, North Carolina funeral home to his final resting place."
